Where do I start? Many of you may already know this game as it was released way back in 2010 and was released on pretty much every home system as well as on both major mobile OS’.

However I had never managed to complete this game until this year due to a creature that appears right at the start, avoiding spoilers (unless you watch the VOD below) I will say that there is something right at the start that makes this a game that arachnophobes will not like.  However it really is worth pushing past this.

The story of this game is simple and Steam sums it up as “Uncertain of his sister’s fate, a boy enters LIMBO”

Gameplay

Gameplay wise this is a side scrolling puzzle game, but it is more than that with every stage introducing more elements from horror and jump scares, to complete environmental changes that you have to navigate around, or with.  It was enough to make me end up playing the whole game in one sitting, some of these puzzles do make you think so I would say if you want to play this game to go in blind rather than watching my VOD.

Controls

I played the whole game with my Xbox gamepad and had no issues, with just two buttons Jump and Grab it is a really simple game to pick up and get into.

Graphics

Well in this case there isn’t really any, it’s a 2D side scroller with the whole game in black and white, that being said it suited the game perfectly and I feel that having any other graphics style would have ruined the feel of the game.

Final Thoughts

I wish I had played this back in the day when it came out, but the opening section was enough to scare me off the game. Once pushed past this a fantastic game and story unfolded before me which did not feel too long and most of the puzzles having a difficulty curve that increased in a nice manner (even if chat had to give me some hints at times towards the end).  There were a few “cheap deaths” but the checkpoints were generous enough you never felt like you lost too much progress.

If you haven’t played this game yet I would encourage you to get it on one of the many systems it is on.
